A little shifting in the Top 10 belief systems that I would fall into. Last time I took this quiz
, SH was #1 at 100%, but Lib Quaker was #2 and UU was #3 (don't recall the %):
1. Secular Humanism (100%)
2. Unitarian Universalism (99%)
3. Liberal Quakers (87%)
4. Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (82%)
5. Neo-Pagan (77%)
6. Theravada Buddhism (73%)
7. Nontheist (69%)
8. New Age (63%)
9. Mahayana Buddhism (52%)
10. Taoism (50%)
(thanks to Amy
for reminding me about the quiz)
I used to subscribe to The Humanist, and humanism does seem to describe my attitudes the best. I know lots of Quakers who have ultimately become Unitarians, so it's not surprising that UU is so high on my list. I've also in the past experimented with Taoism and Buddhism.
In reality, I still consider myself an agnostic Quaker. I reject the term "atheist" because I do have a sense of spirituality, and my Gandhian beliefs (e.g., satyagraha
) make me recognize I don't have a monopoly on truth, so who am I to judge whether there is definitely no higher power?
So, what are you?
