Before I knew that so many people had died in Iraq today, I was driving home from the doctor's with a bandaid on my arm and my camera in the passenger's seat...

One of the gravestones in Purmort Cemetery, tucked in the woods near the Lamoille River. Tiny graveyards such as this, with a couple dozen stones, are scattered all about Vermont and New England.

Fairfax, population 3765, our neighbor 5 miles WSW of us. I'll be biking this hill soon--my legs ache just thinking about it.
